Meet the Characters-Day 04

Star_storm-dan

Meet Ebert, Mage of the Void. In Star Storm, all users of magic pay tribute to the void. The void contains Cthulu-style monsters and is very dangers, but hell so is magic! And just because to derive your power from such darkness, doesn't mean you're an evil person, you just have to respect it. Dan plays Ebert pretty well and he and Joe's character have some fun moments. I believe the random flaw Dan chose was being completely loyal to a particular faith, and being as he follows the darkness of the void, it works out for him.

Meet the Characters-Day 03

Star_storm-justin

Meet Justin's character...that we can't remember the name of. He had a name, but we lost his character sheet, and he missed a few weeks of playing, and so we forgot his character's name. What's more important is what he is; he's a scout, with an angry edge. His character's complication is that he hates a particular race, which I believe are Lizard Men ( I thought for sure it'd be Bullywugs because he absoluted despises frogs). When Justin is present at the table look for an impulsive rogue with a sadistic edge. When he's not there, he makes a really fun plot device.

Update: While editing a pod, I discovered Justin's character's name. It's Carter!

Day 02-Meet the Character's of Star Storm!

Star_storm-joe

Meet Zardoz Voidwalker, played by Joe. Zardoz is an outlaw priest, meaning he doesn't always tow the line of his church. He gets things done in his own way and time. This elven priest's drawback is that he has a niece/cousin/sister/I don't know what with him as part of the crew. I'm not sure if Joe ever fully decided his eact family relationship to this girl, but her name is Amanda and she is their Conduit.

Now the conduit is a device onboard all the ships floating through the void. Being as technology is so precious, and that advanced higher functioning tech is hard to rely on, because if it were to break, not many people know how to fix it. People in this world use psychic/sensitive people to opporate conduits. When using these devices the sensitive person can stretch out their mind and detect long range hazards, life signs, and even open communications with distant planets and places. Amanda performs this function for the crew, and it's Joe's duty as her relative to keep her safe and out of harms way.

Day 01-Meet the Characters of Star Storm!

Star_storm-craig

Meet Synghyn Starrunner, played by Craig! Synghyn is a half-elf fighter who leads our intreppid band of salvagers in the Black Sea. Craig plays him fairly good hearted, but he got a blaster and he's not afraid to use it.

One of the things I told them was that energy weapons are extremely dangerous. They cause high damage and if fired on a ship they can easilly destroy vital systems or even breach the hull. And in a world where salvage is king, blowing holes in stuff isn't the best idea. That doesn't stop Synghyn from doing his thing though. He's a shoot first, answers are optional kind of guy.

I also had each of them draw a flaw or drawback out of a hat. Synghyn's flaw? He likes to live dangerously, even going as far as to risk his friend's lives. Perfect flaw for the guy who isn't afraid to fire his blaster in to melee.

Welcome to Star Storm!

To day begins your introduction to my little role-playing world. It's not my own system, it's basically 2nd Edition D&D with a few twists of my own. The game is set in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Universe; in this universe everything is based on trade. There is advanced technology, but somewhere along the way, our technology became so advanced that we lost the fundamental foundations of how to construct things from scratch. So, everyone in the universe basically salvages what they can find to keep living and surviving the best they can.

There are two religions that dominate the universe. The first is the Worship of Celestial Dragons that live in nebulas and among the stars; the second is the worship of the Void, dark creatures and gods very much inspired by the Cthullu mythos. All Clerics recieve their spells from the Dragons, and all mages derive power from the void.

I'm uploding a document (You may need Open Office to read it) that contains a list of slang I created for the game and a few notes. Check it out and you'll get a little bit of an feel for the world.
