The Nerdy Times- The Fantasy Shop

Just about every role-player finds a surrogate home and family at their local gaming/comic book shop or gaming store. Truer words could never be said for those of us who live in Missouri and go to The Fantasy Shop. This year marks the 30th anniversary of their store's service to the St. Charles and St. Louis communities. On top of having a great selection of games, comics, back issues, collectables, and a host of other interesting items; the stores also have nice gaming areas for people to set-up and play games of all kinds.

Beyond that, the stores also have used gaming auctions where the players bring in their old games and figs to be sold in an auction for store credit. It's a great way to keep you library fresh with new games, or to pick up things to help flesh out you collections. They also have comic book back issue sales. Boxes of old back issue comics are set out for the fanboys to go through to find those issues they need to complete their runs; and the best part is, each comic is only a quarter!

I really can't recommend the stores highly enough. Their staff is extremely knowledgeable, and on top of that, they're friendly. So if you live in the St. Louis/St. Charles area you'd do yourself a great service by making yourself a patron. Go and check them out today!

The Nerdy Times

Good day, everyone! Last night, while waiting at a friends house I came across an issue of Heavy Metal Magazine. I hadn't looked through an issue in years and it really took me back to when I collected them along with comics back in the 90's. For those of you who don't know, Heavy Metal Magazine is an adult science-fiction/fantasy magazine that runs six times a year; and when I say adult, I mean adult. The Magazine publishes comics and the comics change from month-to-month. The comic stories are done by a variety of very talented artists and the stories range from serious, funny, violent, and sometimes pornographic. It's a nice departure from your average newstand or comic book fare. If your are a immature, mature audience member, and to listen to us you need to be, and if not shame on you, then give it a try some time. If for no other reason than the art, which normally is outstanding. Chances are you've seen some of their art before and never even knew it. So the next time you're at your local comic book store, see if they carry copies of it. They are worth a look.

The Nerdy Times

Hello one and all, it's Monday and time for another edition of The Nerdy Times and today I'm gonna lead you to something, pretty obvious, but you might not know about it and that is the Marvel Comics Website!

There's a lot of things that are great on the site, like webcomics, wallpapers, Marvel Entertainment News, and of course comic news. But, I'm here to tell you about the feature I find most interesting is their Marvel Universe charactrer bios.

It is a huge database that can get you connected with just about every character in their entire universe, their entire multiverse. Not only is there origins stories and a list of their powers, but there is also a well detailed history. I personally find it fascinating to just scroll through their endless lists of characters and timeline and learn where they've been and where they are now. It even has a section dedicated to all the characters who are, currently, dead in their comics.

It's a wonderful resource for any comic book nerd, and if you are a huge Marvel fan it's a must. It really makes me wish I could afford a subscription to the greater part of their catalog. So head on over to www.Marvel.com and give it a good look. You lose more time there than you think.
